Current Information

Due to the current situation around the Corona virus, the circulation of people at our institute has been suspended. However, as we still want to give you the opportunity to use the literature of our library, the borrowing of books is possible after prior registration. For reasons of infection protection, entering the institute is only allowed with a mouth-nose mask.

For an appointment please write an e-mail to bibliothek-idhSpamProtectionuni-koeln.de.

The Digital Humanities library is a joint project of the chairs of the Department for Digital Humanities and contains the book inventory of the Cologne Centre for eHumanities. It connects the formerly separate libraries of the Chair of Linguistic Information Processing (SpInfo) and the Chair of Historical-Cultural Science Information Processing (HKI). A listing of all books of the library in the Cologne University General Catalogue (KUG) is currently in progress.

Note: The books of the former SpInfo library can already be searched via the KUG, but are currently still listed there as belonging to the Institute for German Language and Literature I (IDSL I). In spite of differing location information in the KUG entries, these books marked by the abbreviation "SIV" can now be found in the Department for Digital Humanities itself and can be viewed here.

The library is a reference library, which means that the books are only available locally and cannot be borrowed. At least one workstation is always available for working with the books during opening hours. It is also possible to scan essays or chapters and drag them onto your own stick.
