Current Information
Due to the current situation around the corona virus, passenger traffic has been suspended at our institute. The use of the on-site equipment is therefore unfortunately not possible. However, as we still want to give you the opportunity to use the VR-Lab's technology, it is still possible to borrow it after prior registration. For reasons of protection against infection, entering the institute is only allowed with a mouth and nose mask.
The VR-Lab
The Virtual Reality Lab of the Institute for Digital Humanities offers students of the University of Cologne access to many important technologies in the fields of VR, AR and 3D printing.
You can borrow the available equipment and software or use it on site as part of your course work or thesis.
The VR-Lab is equipped with the following technologies, among others:
- High-performance computers for rendering 3D worlds and models
- Laptops and tower computers
- 3D Printers
- Head-Mounted Displays (can be borrowed)
- popular VR platforms
For example, students can visit virtual museums on site, print the mascot for their seminar-developed computer game on one of our 3D printers, or borrow an HMD and laptop to build their own 3D world for their next term paper at home. So there are no limits to creativity!
If you have any questions regarding the use and rental of equipment, please contact lsept2@uni-koeln.de.
